image.webp Frank wa fine this morning and was ony at the vets yesterday,
But I've just noticed one eye is puffy, very red and looks quite sunken and sore. Vets isn't open yet but will be ringing them. In the meantime what can I do....
:'(

Please see your vet as soon as you can! Have you got access to an out-of-hours vet?

Please don't give him any painkiller just yet even though the eye is painful, it can interfere with what your vet would give him (especially if he wants to prescribe steroids).

Our vets is open on Sundays, is there anything particular he should have or shouldn't have? From the vets?

Thank you so much

Thanks Jen, me to, rather tearful atm and I don't know what to do for like 2 and a bit hours. I have him on my bed in his cuddle cup, with his food bowl next to him so I can watch him and I'll give him hay in a mo, but I'll hand feed strands and feed him his water bottle - can't to let him go back in the cage just in case anything makes it worse. :(

Thanks Rachel xx

I shall do! Thank you. x
He is rather comfortable, think we have a little trust bond :'),
He keeps looking at me for hay at the moment, so I'm passing him bits and he's had some water... and peed all over the bed, nevermind! easily cleaned! my poor little man. xx

poor Frankie. What a good job he has you to look after him .

Sending healing vibes. I hope he gets better soon.

Thank you muchly @PiggieOwner, my OH has a taxi booked for 1pm, as none of his family are willing to help out - nice ay. He was hoping that maybe just getting there early he may get seen quicker, worth a try ay.

Thinking of you @TheFurryGodmother, healing vibes for frank and a chin rub too, please keep us posted on his your handsome fella gets on at the vets, not long now to wait. He sounds like he trusts his mummy and your doing the right thing getting his seen asap. My fudge had hay in his eye when he was little the vet said it was a good job he was seen and treated quickly.
I will be popping back on later to see how Frank got on at the vets....hugs. kell.

@My3cuteBoys Thank you kell, I couldn't see any hay so does that mean it could have come out or gone behind his eye or something? I just looked so nasty, I thought it was bleeding but think it was just that sore when I noticed it! Glad your fudge was okay, that's given me a spot of relief!

My OH just took Frank in the taxi now, I got too emotional :/
So I'll update you when they get back, need to go and change my sheets and mattress toppers etc. now, when I've finished my little sob ha :')

Hi (Rachel), Heather, having hay in eye or being poked in the eye with hay may be the issue. They say they need to be seen asap (as frank has) because they can get ulcers in their eye which can affect their eye and can cause blindness if left untreated. The vet will properly put a dye in his eye and check it for ulcers, fudge had one at the top of his eye and was given eye drops for 7 days, the check up and a second lot of dye showed his eye was 100% better :) I hope this is all that is wrong with Frank :)

Rachel? My names Heather hehe :')
Thank you, me to, that sounds rather straight forward and the alternative is horrible!
Just have to wait and see, wish I'd gone now, made things worse for myself sat here waiting... Especially as the OH took the phone so he could ring a taxi...
Thank you for your help, truly appreciated! :)

Lol, sorry I read some of the other messages too quick and saw a reply with Rachel that I thought was from you, it's been a long day sorry Hearther :)

They're back.

She's given him steroids 'Fucithalmic Vet' , fusidic acid. Apply two times daily to right eye for seven days.
How should we apply it? One of the nurses said to put it on our finger and put it in his eye... but i dunno...

Is it a cream eye drop (fudges was) I put him on my knee, cuddling him into my tummy and I gently held his eye open with index finger and middle finger (so his eye was in the middle) then I popped a drop of the medicine into him eye and let go :) that worked for us.

So give it a day or two, if it's not better, take him back?
They didn't book him in for a check-up either?
Fingers crossed!
Again, Thank you so much! x

Well done for getting little Frank seen soon. Those eye drops are great so they will help. Please don't apply it using your finger though as you will be letting bacteria in the eye. I hope he recovers soon.

Keep up with the treatment for the full 7 days if you don't notice an improvement after the 7 days take him back, you should start to notice his eye getting better (less red and watery) in a day or two.
Oh ok not a check up at the end of the week, That's fine if they don't need to see him after the treatment is over, if you see he's back to normal I wouldn't feel the need to take him back but just keep an eye on him (as I know you will anyway) for a few days after the end of the treatment for any signs of there still being a problem. Fingers crossed it will be better and you can breath a sigh of relief :) x

P.s your welcome :)

Glad you were able to have him seen today :) I had to get Pixel to the vet for the same thing last week and also had the drops, they are fab. My vet didn't ask for a checkup either, he said as long as the eye was looking normal and didn't go cloudy or blue that everything was back to normal. It is so horrible when something goes wrong; they do put you through the mill sometimes, these little fluff monsters! x

Glad pixel is okay now! Thank you :)
That's good to hear, positivity! They do indeed put us through the mill! But someone has to love them! :D x
