Eye Issue, Help Freaking Out!

Glad you have had him seen promptly. Eye pokes are not uncommon in guinea pigs. They tend to heal well. Generally you will see a lessening of the pain and discomfort within a couple of days; please keep up the full course for 7 days, then have the eye checked again. Depending on the severity of the eye injury, you may need to give the drops for a few days longer.

A good tip is to distract your boy with letting himself stuff with grass or his favourite veg; it can be a lot easier to get the drops in while the eye is very painful and the piggy flinches away. You will notice once the eye is getting better that it is also much eaiser to get the drops in.

Very glad to hear that Frank's eye is all better now, TFG.
A lot of piggies seem to be getting poked in the eye lately! They make it look much worse than it is because they scratch at it with a back foot. My Maya had it just recently and got a bit of hay stuck in there. As with some other folk, we were given Fucithalmic eye ointment to put in twice a day, and went back a week later. The eye was completely healed. Prior to going to the vet, I bathed the eye in very cold water using a cotton wool pad and that helped the swelling go right down quite quickly.

Franks says a big thank you to everyone!image.webp Thank you Wiebke, I will do!
He is generally okay with medications (used to it) and when he had his drops earlier he didn't move an inch haha :') but may use the distraction technique in case especially if I have to do it! D;

Thank you @7squeakers. :) glad Maya is better! Must be the time of the year!

Franks chomping on his veg now, and after 5 mins and a choke -.- has finally slowed down, you'd think I starve him! Haha

Glad you got him seen to so quickly, well done. Hopefully the drops will work there magic and he will be healed up in no time.

He seems a lot perkier, sleeping now after chowing down his veg, only so much one little man can take haha!
I am also quite relieved yes!
Thank you for wishing him a speedy recovery Jen. X

Phew! Thank goodness he's all better now. You must be more careful with your hay, Frank!

He should, it still looks really sore and he seems miserable today :( but when he's not sleeping he's his normal self !
