Hi everyone!

Choco has an infection on his right eye, we noticed it on Wed evening, unfortunately our appoitment is for next Wed.
We washed out with eyewash solution, nothing in the eye, cant see any injury. His teeth looks ok, he is eating and drinking fine, he is normal.
Until Wed I was thinking to get some chloramphenicol drops to his eye, but I cant see any over the counter stuff now, what I can buy immediately from pharmacies, only these or similar:

LloydsPharmacy Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment 1%
LloydsPharmacy Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment 1% | LloydsPharmacy

Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis 1% w/w Eye Ointment
Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis w/w Eye Ointment - Boots

I think its a cream.
I have used chloramphenicol drops before successfully, but cant get it in shops now, also cant find optrex infected eyes drops, if I try to do a search in boots-lloyds.

I wonder, if I can use these creams.

Does anyone have an idea or advice?
I will take him to the vet, but its still 5 days, and I think if I treat gently wont be worse, at least.

Thank you

You and your vet should treat eye injuries as an emergency. My vet does. My vet insists on seeing any animal with an eye injury the same day. Eyes can get worse very quickly. You certainly shoudn't have to wait a week. If I were you I would phone back and INSIST you see a vet TODAY. Have a look at Recommended Guinea Pig Vets which are forum recommended vets to see if there are any in your area.

An eye injury is a same day emergency and any UK vets have a duty to see you if you explain it’s an eye injury. Please don’t wait. Delay and home treating could make things much worse.
