One of my recent three girls which I took on knowing they were ill may need an eye op.

I picked up the three thinking that two were possibly pregnant and one had rti.

vets visit revealed that two of them had eye issues one was crusty ( fluffy) (which I knew about) but one who have have called salt has a lump in corner of her eye it touches her eye ball and she had eye gunk. The vet said she may need it removing. It has a hair stuck to it which is touching her eyeball I wonder if it is a hair folicavle which has a lump growing on it.

they are only 8-12 weeks old bless them.

The lump is very small because she is small but it is causing discomfort as she does squint.

I dont think a photo would even pick it up. But ill try later.

They are all on antibiotic eye drops for now and I will be taking them back next week to see how they are doing and discuss op. The lump doesnt seem like something that will shrink I think it is a birth defect.

I wanted advice from here really to see if it is something she really needs doing or whether she'd manage with the lump or would it be too uncomfortable long term and risk her health with infections etc..?

I don't know whether vet will tell me what is best as in past I have been told by vets they cant tell me what to do for best?

I managed to get ok ish picture its a lump which is black like her eye lids I presume she was born with it and as I say it does seem to annoy her just not sure how much. She is also quite portly so not sure if she also could be pregnant?

Aww poor baby. I had a piggy who had her eye removed and coped very well. It healed nicely. If she needs her eye removed she will be able to cope so try not to worry.

I'm hoping it is just the lump but I dont suppose id find out until she was on the table so to speak. I will add a picture of her shape too as she ia only tiny but worringly triangular

Tummy is soft not hard or hollow sounding. Therecwas a lot og noise when I listened to her tummy but could have been gurgles

Poor baby! Generally, eye operations go well. Babies heal very quickly and usually without problems.

Just an update on my little girls. I took Salt the one with eye lump and also fluffy who I suspected to gave a rti back to vets today. fluffy is now on baytrill for her rti. I will also be giving her proc. She had crusty eyes when I got her and she has been sneezing and covering me in sneeze (yuck). Her eyes are better but sneezing remained.

salt the eye lump pig went back too. The vet pulled out the hair that was attached to lump and said it was upto me whether to operate.

he said it shouldnt bother her (I presume now he remived hair) but that he would operate if I wanted. He said he has done lots of eye ops and it really excites him but didnt want to regret itfif she got absess etc..

I really dont know what to do. I think I'd be annoyed if I had that on my eye but she may just be used to it. I just wish they could tell us if it hurts. I dont want her ti go through pain of op for no reason but at same time it'd br awful if it is uncomfortable for her as she is only 2-3 months so she's got a lot if time to have to put up with it left.

Has anyone on here dealt with something similar?
