Hi I am a new guinea pig owner about a month! one of them has developed a half closed eye. We thought that it might have bumped into something whilst racing round the cage, as they do! but being new to all this I am not sure? As its Bank Holiday and no vets are open, do I worry or leave and monitor? Help appreciated

Welcome to the forum! Could you post a photo? Is there any discharge, or could there be something in the eye (hay or something)? More info would help with the advice.

I agree with Elwickcavies, a picture would be a great help in any advice that is given. Is their any inflammation round the eye. Is it possible to check round the rim of the eye to see if there is something there that shouldn't be.

She is fine in herself, eating and drinking normally and even playing. Will try and have a closer look at it and get a picture.

I agree with the others that a picture would help, it could be a hay poke in which case he will need the vets for pain relief and so they can put a dye in to check for any damage. Treatment would most likely be in the form of eye drops.
