My lovely lady Fizz has finally chosen to cross the bridge, after a day or two of fighting it.

Fizz has only been with me for a couple of months, one of 39 pigs that came from Peterborough when her poor owner lost her house. She was already 10 years old - amazingly - and had always lived in a large group of piggies with free range of the shed, so rather than move her again I kept her in my sow group here.

She was the gentlest, fuzziest, kindest piggy and I will truly miss her. She had her own position in the group and despite her age, always managed to get the best pickings of the veg!

These photos were taken yesterday, during her 'swan song' when she just wanted to go out on the grass one last time...

She managed to finally pass away in between me being on the phone to Vikki and then phoning the emergency vet because my dog is sick... bless her!

Sleep well Fizz, you were a very special piggy indeed and I will miss you so much, as will Twinkle, She-Ra, Ginny, Fleur, Lunar, Hedwig, Faith, Dru, Moomin, Kiki, and Mrs Bojangles.

Bless your heart little Fizz popcorn free, I know you did everything possible for her Sophie and so glad she has her time on the grass like you hoped when she arrived.

Aww, RIP Fizz, sleep tight. Please watch out for your mommy and siblings as they'll miss you dreadfully. You play safe up there and munch the best veg!

What a very special little lady! It was Fizz' zest for life in her expressive face that touched me so much! Despite her short time with you, she must leave a big hole in your heart, Sophie!

To Fizz: I am glad that you could peacefuly slip away on your own terms to cross the rainbow bridge and be with other friends from old. I'm sure you'll tackle your afterlife with the same positive outlook as you did your new life with Sophie!
 
I remember seeing Fizz in your car when you dropped some of the girls off, see you Fizz,go free range in pigsville...

What an amazing grand old lady she was :)

Looks like she wasn't going to let go until she was ready - what a wonderful way to spend the end of her life, with someone who loved her so very much and allowed her the dignity she deserved in her final hours.

So sorry to hear that Fizz has made the final journey to Rainbow Bridge. What a dignified passing she had. You truly made her last days very comfortable. The photos are lovely. Run free at the bridge lovely lady.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I took the photos yesterday, I'll remember her like that. Her hair had all grown back and she had put on weight and was looking really good, bless her.

She looked like a lovely girl - and ten years old - wow. Sorry that you lost her.

Oh Sophie ... I have just picked up on this thread about Fizz.
I am so upset!

I always looked out for your postings regarding Fizz as I also had a Fizz who passed away last year.

Those are really lovely pigtures of her and ones you can treasure forever. She was, as you say, a grand old lady ... and a lovely one!

I'm so sorry sophie,i woke up this morning and said to my OH i think Fizz has passed away,thats why I'm online at the moment:(,at least she went peacefully on her terms and had a farely comfortable last few days,
you did everything you could and that would have made it even harder,
she was a special old lady who touched hearts of most on here just for her sheer age and determination,
i hope she is free now and is enjoying life at rainbow bridge with all the other piggies,big hugs to you as well,RIP beautiful Fizz xxxxxx>>>xx>>>
 
Bless her. She didn't really want to go - life was too much fun with you, Sophie, and her buddies! - but she did so very gracefully and peacefully. The way every pig should go. She touched a lot of hearts, mine included and I know we will all miss seeing her pics and hearing about her. The photos of her from yesterday are beautiful. What a pig.
