I think that my guinea pig Hriusha is quite heavy... what are ways that can help him lose a bit of weight in a healthy manner?
Just cutting back pellets a bit and giving him more exercise? Also, his previous owners I think gave him a lot of carrots. I heard that vitamin A in carrots if there's too much in their diet is known to cause liver damage. Since he used to eat many carrots(perhaps) does this mean in the future the chance of him having liver problems is higher? since he's with me, he gets only one baby carrot per day or every other day. Mm... what do you think?

Hi

My guinea pig is also a chubster. I wasnt too worried but my ace very said that his legs and ankles could get weakened if he had to keep on dragging his expanding belly all over the place.
I have cut down on merls portions. And try not to leave food in over night (except hay)

Merlins not too chubby, in my opinion Jen :) His bottom lip seems to carry a bit of extra weight and droops a bit but apart from that :)

My pigs were always a bit overweight. Unless it is drastic, and your piggy isn't moving around very much. I'd say don't diet him.. It's much better for them to have a bit of extra weight in case they get ill. The weight will just drop off then.

I don't think a baby carrot a day is too much? Mine had a section of carrot everyday (as instructed by pretty much every piggy person i knew at the time) and neither of mine had liver problems.
