Fb groups about gp are not the best. I’m also very confused bc one group say lettuce and other veggies aren’t supposed to be fed very often then the fb group by Saskia who runs the L.A. Guinea pig rescue says it’s ok and to really worry about sugary foods. They say to different things. I posted in the other group called gp advice and support and asked why they had 2 different views on veggies and asked if I could see their research and all they said was put together we have a 100 years of research and that vets will ask them to help but they didn’t provide me with any of their evidence. Saskia has a video about veggies and linked some research plus I think I would trust someone who has 20t years of experience and can provide evidence.

Welcome to the Forum.
One of the reasons that many of us end up here is for exactly the reasons you describe above.
Many FB groups are unmoderated, and can easily be full of misinformation and unkind people.
Plus people come and go all the time, so they don't always have consistent or experienced advice.

I have four piggies too 😊 I avoid fb groups like the plaque, full of misinformation. You can’t do better than here and although we are UK based we have members from all over the world so there’s always someone here to offer help

Have a browse through our guides, I’m sure you will find them really informative
 
Sadly I think the problem with a lot of Facebook groups (and I'm not even talking about guinea pig ones here) is that someone with an elevated sense of self importance sets them up and they are more interested in everyone following their rules than giving the right information. I have left many groups on different topics for this reason

I’m another one who avoids Facebook because of the lack of moderation, respect and good advice.

My piggies’ lives have improved no end since I joined this forum with its sensible and balanced advice as well as the real friendship and support we try to offer each other.
