I love my 6x2 C&C cage which is home to my 4 sows but I’m becoming increasingly fed up with the cage stand (both cage and stand were bought online from Candcguineapigcages) because it feels a bit too flimsy. Whenever I have to move it out to clean underneath you can guarantee that one bit or another will pop out of place (this is despite it being assembled very securely with connectors and a load of cable ties) and it’s driving me nuts. I love the look of it and I’ve designed it quite carefully to fit with the colour scheme of the room (pigs live in the kids playroom) but practically speaking the stand is just not working any more.

So I’m thinking of dismantling the stand and having the cage on a table or small set of tables instead (floor is not an option as would be too hard on my back for cleaning out) which will hopefully be a bit more robust.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Pictures are attached of the cage as it currently is- dimensions are 71cm w x 221cm l. Any ideas gratefully received!

I have mine up on tables, loads of storage underneath and easier to clean. I’ve also found that they seem more comfortable being up at my level rather than me looming over them.

We built my tables from loft boards and legs from B&Q, a bit of effort but it meant I could have exactly what I wanted

I'm going back to a grid stand from a table as my 10 year old couldn't reach in and wasn't patting the piggies anymore.

But just to say I gave up on connectors a long time ago and just use tons of cable ties, I could never keen them clean and they always popped out. I've tried a few different brands. With enough grids and cable ties a stand should be ok without them. Maybe the cage needed extra grids to stabilise the base.
