I only recently found out that guinea-pigs can eat bell peppers and I'd like to try it with my guinea-pigs. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do I feed it to them? Are there parts of it they can't eat? Or should I just slice it up for them? My guinea-pigs are quite picky so I don't know if they'd eat it but I'd like them to try it.

They will love the flesh, but we don't feed the seeds. Some guineas prefer a particular colour though. xx

Ok thank you :) What colour do you think I should start with?

i feed them pepper just as i would eat it - without the stalk or seeds, cut into strips or cubes.
Monty won't touch the red or yellow. Junior and Arthur love all colours, and Harry keeps changing his mind. My boys are quite fussy though.

Do not feed the stalk and leaves, as they are poisonous (like with tomatoes), but you can feed any colours. Also strip out the seeds.

Mine just get any colour. I cut the pepper in stripes.

my boys don't seem to like peppers, I've tried every day for about 4 days, left it a few days then tried again for a few days and not one nibble :( I tried red and yellow, but not green yet, as dn't normally buy the green one as I don't like it lol too sour for me! . I might try them on a green one but doubt they'll eat it :(

Mine dont like peppers either. Joey normally tries everything and will eat/try most veg unlike Gizmo who turns his nose up, but even Joey wouldnt try peppers. I wish they would try them as they are a good source of vitamin C.

Good luck and i hope your piggys like them! :)

My girls love them - I haven't tried green, but they love red and yellow. Mind you, I've yet to find a veg that they don't like!

Ok thank you, I've prepared my guinea-pigs vegetables for the morning and put them in the fridge, I've got a mix of carrot, cucumber and pepper for them so if they don't like the pepper at least they'd have something else to eat. Thanks for all the help, I'll let you know what my guinea-pigs think of it :))

I gave it to them this morning before I went to school, and I came home at lunchtime and it was all gone except a few slices, but they've definetly eaten most of it. I only bought one pepper yesterday in case they didn't like it, and I wish I'd got more now. I even saw little Amber eating some of it :))

Lucky you! :)

As somebody already mentioned, it's a very rich source of vitamin C but mine have unfortunately never eaten it and I've tried all colours.

mine all love peppers but i had problems with george at first he wouldn't eat them for months but I just kept trying. I think the fussyness rubs off on other pigs as since I got my girls tiger will eat any veg given to him as amy loves all veg. Tia is a bit fussy so her and george both dislike the same things... Wierd!
