Hi everyone. Percy and Pepper have both put on weight again this week. They are now both over 1400g. I’m not feeding them any more than usual. They are getting fresh grass now maybe 3 times a week (not daily). Would this make them gain weight?

How old are they? Perhaps a growth spurt?

I wouldn’t be worried at 1.4kg as long as they are active and move lots then that is the main thing.

Mine are eating a load of grass and fattening up. George and Louise are a little bit bigger but dainty Flora has tanked up to 1.3 kilo which surprised me as she's really active and gambols up and down the path, leaping up the steps. I've had her about a year - she's 3ish - and she was under a kilo when she arrived. When I hold her (which is always negotiated, as she's a slippery eel!) you can't feel any squish, she seems to be all muscle.

Thanks. They are 2 and 1.5. Little porkers 🐽

As long as it isn’t huge weight changes in one go then I wouldn’t be concerned. My two often put a bit on when they first go to grass regularly (and they can be on it 14 hours a day after gradual increase) but it stabilises as the grass becomes more hay like through summer.

Popcorn weighed 1550g in his youth!
