had a good breakdown on the phone to my sister about completely getting the size of the cage wrong for my piggies causing them to get angry with eachother. I'm devastated I have ruined the plan of slowly easing them into an indoor cage for when I go on holiday. luckily I have an amazing family who are paying for a 120cm cage. of course I will pay them back. I'm just feeling so disappointed in myself that I didn't know better and I weren't educated enough..
another lesson learnt I suppose, the piggies are back in their original hutch outside and tomorrow we will try again with the bigger cage, wish me luck :(

You are a good Piggie mum BECAUSE you care about giving them the best size cage you can!
A lot of people just don't, so you're already better then a majority who don't care because you do!

You've realised now, which means you can fix it and get it sorted tomorrow or as soon as you can, the Guinea Pigs won't mind waiting a few more days, they'll enjoy it for so long in the long run :)

Don't beat yourself up about being unaware before, because I bet almost everyone on this site didn't know stuff like that at one point, I know I didn't and neither did my parents,

Anyway it's the pet shops and big companies selling inadequate cages and giving subpar advice who should feel ashamed not us,
It's their job to know the latest stuff about housing and enrichment but unfortunately a lot don't know/care/just want to make as much money for as little effort as possible

Your doing great so far!
It's going to be amazing for your Piggies and you when it gets done, so don't stress about having it a few days later, because in the long run waiting a few more days isn't going to serious affect your Piggies,
In fact, when you get it sorted, you might find a wonderfull experience of popcorning and endearing behaviour from your pets,

Good luck!
I just know you are going to be/are a wonderful Guinea Pig owner!

thank you so much, I know they love me and I know they know I care about them, they've never had these problems before in their outdoor hutch, so I think the change of scenery was a bit much for them too. I feel a lot better now, thank you. its just because id being doing every right and doing everything to make sure my piggies were the most well treated and loved piggies ever since I've had them and then it just went wrong. thank you for this its helped ALOT!

When I first got my piggies i got talked into buying this inappropriately too small cage because I didnt know any better. After a couple of days on the forum looking at photos of the size that adult piggies can get to I realised that cage was waaaay to small and next pay headed out to buy a 140x70 cage. I felt really bad that they had to spend their first two weeks in a cramped tiny cage. You'll probably find that most people have felt like the worst piggy owner in the world at some time in their piggie ownership. Don't be so hard on yourself, all has been rectified thats the main thing :)

You are a fantastic owner, you rarely know what piggies need when you first get them, we have all being on a learning curve. The key thing is you have got the right sized cage for them and they look really happy in there. Well done you, be proud of yourself!

I think it's wonderful that you have given so much thought and care as to what your piggies need and want. We all have a steep learning curve at times with our piggies. You are a very caring and thoughtful owner to have worked out what the problem was, and sorted it out. Your piggies clearly have a very loving home.

please do not blame yourself, you are a wonderful piggie mum as you obviously care about them, you have changed the cage.i hope your piggies give you alot of joy.

Gorgeous piggies. Don't feel bad. We only know what people tell us about pets and if you were given the wrong information it's not your fault.
