i was cutting the piggies' nails and got to the last piggie, which was my little gem maggie-may, well, she sat perfectly still until got to the last toe nail and she moved, i cut her nail too short! 8...8...8... i got some cornflour and tried to stop the bleeding, i ended up covered, as did she. i got covered in blood and cornflour. i feel awful for that, but also because they're at my folks, so i cant keep an eye on her. i told my mom to keep an eye out incase she stops using that foot, or goes quiet. anything else i should get my mom to look out for? see, i know my piggies so well,i just have to look at them and know they're unwell. so i'm not sure of actual signs for infection as such?

She should be fine, don't worry too much. What you've asked your mum to look out for is correct.

She should be OK. You did right.

They can be a problem when they move at the last split second! Llewi did that last time at the vets, naughty piggie!

A hug for you (for your shaken nerves) and a cuddle for Maggie-may!
Wiebke

i just feel terrible, my poor little baby girl,:...8...:...8...:...8...:...8...

It's worse for us than it is for the piggies, honestly. They endure just a split second of "Ouch!" while we endure far longer of feeling terrible and guilty! *Hugs* to you, I am quite sure that Maggie will be just fine.

i know she will really, she didn't even yelp, the beautiful little girl. i just feel so bad leaving her

Don't feel guilty. It happens to us all. One of my girls has absolutely horrible nails and they're always bent. I've cut her a few time poor sausage but she never had any infections.

I am sure that she will be fine. It is always worrying when this happens but it can happen to the best of us. It isn't easy cutting piggy nails and when they aren't happy about having it done, it makes a difficult job really hard.

Usually the bleeding will stop quickly and dry over. But just keep an eye on the nail for a couple of days to be on the safe side.

you could try asking your mum if she can put a white towel down
that way if the bleeding doesn't stop you can tell quite easily
i'm sure she'll be fine, all piggie owners have nail-cutting scares at some point <3

this is my second, managed to cut bethany's the first time i ever did hers! just cant believe of all of them it was my teenytiny one that absolutely adores me! i feel so bad,but she let me hold her afterwards and she fell asleep on my shoulder

It really isn't a world shattering event to cut a nail too short.
As the tv advert says "Calm down dear".

Oh chick i'm sure Maggie will be ok, but i don't blame you for feeling that way, after all you are a wonderful mummy xx>>>
wheeeeeeeks of healing and loves for Maggie and HUGS for you xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

How is Maggie doing today? Have you recovered from your shock?

Sorry for not replying! Maggie-May's all ok now! She's still the lovely, crazy and snuggly piggie that I know and love, if anything she seems to love me more! She must know how bad I felt after the incident.xoxox)^)x>>xoxo:<>

It was worse for you than it was for her. I always tell mine how sorry I am if I hurt one accidentially, and they are usually quite gracious about it!

She's such a cuddly piggie, I'd be so sad if I hurt or upset her. She seems to idolise me, well, they all do to some degree, but maggie-may loves me more than all the others combined! she licked me afterwards, so i know she's ok!

She's so adorable! Just in case you don't need her anymore...

How very apt to call her a princess. She certainly has a regal look about her. What a little darling she is.

It's so good for you to have a piggie that looks after you as much as you look after her!
