Hi, had our 2.5 year old female at vet on Saturday and found a small ovarian cyst. She has hair loss on her belly although vet wasn't sure that wasn't just from physical friction.

she was completely fine otherwise.

Yesterday she ust wasn't herself - less movement, less noise. Still wanted food and was moving to take veggies. Have been monitoring.

This morning seems to be losing interest in taking food, or maybe being very fussy - seems to maybe be ok eating cucumber but picking around other things. Seems to be eating hay and peeing and pooping yesterday. Definitely poops in there this morning (separated from cage mate this morning).

Seeing vet at lunchtime but just wanted to check in to see if anyone has come across something similar.

She doesn't seem to be in any pain. Is letting me poke and prod her in a way she wouldn't normally as i'm checking on her but still runs if i'm looking like trying it pick her up.

Possibly hormones from the cyst?

thanks

Vet has prescribed metacam, lower dose of the dog one, as can't see any obvious signs of something going on but testing if there is some pain that this helps with. Next step seems to be ultrasound.

Vet initially prescribed 0.16 ml metacam (dog version) which seemed to help but she's a bit up and down - this might be a mroe natural cycle of being more active in the morning and evening but more pronouned due to illness?

She's eating small bits of things and being fussier than usual but seems to not have lost any substantial weight.

Today vet has said it's ok to up meds to 0.25 ml

The vet with specialist guinea pig knowledge isn't around until Tuesday so just trying to keep her ok until then although if she's going downhill will get her somewhere else.

The cyst isn't confirmed by ultra sound yet but she's definitely not herself. But for now seems stable even if not fully well.

She's been taking cucumber, some romaine lettuce, some herbs although in last hour didn't want any of these. Maybe she's just fed up with them but will keep an eye on her this evening and hope she is a bit livelier and eats more.
