Hi all, this is my first post here, but I am worried about my old guinea. She is about five, a mix between American Guinea Pig and Cuy. Her name is Zuri and I've had her for four of her five years of life. She came from a very neglectful family. (Idk if any of this means anything but I'm gonna just leave it here anyway). She gets bathed (no soap, just water) about once a month. Recently I've been seeing her nipples have black crusty stuff on them. I don't know, I've tried to look it up but I might not be phrasing it correctly. Anyone know what this is? She has never been bred.

Is the skin around her nipples quite dark too? Ovarian cysts can cause crusting around the nipples.

Have you noticed any other symptoms? I know crusty nipple's are a sign of ovarian cysts
She's old, so I wasn't sure if it was caused by her age or not, but she doesn't move around a lot anymore. She also has been moving her back legs oddly, like a waddle. And I thought she was just licking her belly, but she might be chewing on her nipples.

I would definitely get her checked out by a vet :)

I haven't noticed the skin around her nipples getting dark. I bathed her today as well and the black crusty/ scabs wouldn't come off - but I also wasn't touching them, I didn't want to hurt her.

I wasn't thinking about the skin getting darker but more the tone of it in the first place. When my grey and white piggy had this one nipple got blackish crust because it was on her gray side. My other piggy with cysts had beige ones from her white skin.

If the scabs aren't washing/wiping off then I would pop along to a vet for examination
