Fighting?

So i got a new guinea pig today for my current guinea pig. They keep getting on top of eachother and chasing. Theyre also sniffing each others butts. Do I need to separate them or are they just doing something else?
 
there is a guinea pig shelter, but its too far and also they only do adoptions on sunday morning, which we are busy. We just bought the new piggie from petsmart.
 
Just separated these 2 for now because they keep chattering their teeth and their chasing each other, and getting on top of each other a bit too aggressively
 
Chasing, chattering and mounting is entirely normal and to be expected when bonding piggies.
You don’t separate for dominance behaviours. If you separate boars during bonding then you interrupt everything and you then need to start all over again.

Have you introduced them on neutral territory? (ie not in your original piggy’s cage as that will be seen as a territory invasion and will cause problems)
Did you check both piggies are the same sex?

Ohh ok. Thanks. Also i double checked and theyre both boys

Do read the illustrated bonding guide which I have added in as bonding needs to be done in a specific way (ie neutral territory, no hides in the bonding pen, they need to be in the bonding pen for several hours etc)

I did! Theyre kinda chill now
 
That’s good. Leave them for several hours in the bonding pen. Clean down the cage they are to live in so your original piggy doesn’t see it as his territory, and then after the several hours in the bonding pen you can move them to the cage. It will take them around two weeks to fully form their relationship
 
did so! it really helped a lot. now theyre sticking around together
