I had been trying to get hold of a second hand baby bath, so I could wash all my piggies as we dont have a bath only a shower and the sink in the bathroom is a tiny one and the kitchen is a bit dodgy with the dogs around - and my sister had one in their attic. So today I finally got chance to bathe all 13 piggies with lice, mites etc shampoo. I feel really chuffed with myself that I did them all in one day and now they are all nice and clean and hopefully the shampoo has killed off any insects. They were pretty ok when I washed them, apart from 4 and 2 out of them went really nuts. Anyway I am just glad that they are now done :)

Are piggies prone to mites etc? Is it a good idea to treat them regular?

Unfortunately, mites can pop up again months after the last outbreak. Some eggs can be dormant in the skin for a long time and wake up when the piggie is stressed or not well...

If I have a fresh outbreak, I tend to give my piggies an insecticidal bath to cut down on the itching, before I take them to the vets for treatment, as it takes a couple of days for the ivermectin to work. If you use xeno450, you can't give them a bath AFTER you've treated them!

I wouldn't treat them just randomly, but once one has bugs, you need to treat all pigs.
