Well after Stripes decided to clamber off my lap the other day and on to the OH to snuggle up with Spike we thought we'd take the plunge and introduce them properly.
So far so good! They've been together in their big play area since 7pm and apart from a couple of squabbles over who gets which bedroom and Spike's disgust at Stripes sleeping in the litter tray of hay they've been ok.

Wish us luck for a happy night's sleep!

Maybe adult boars can be successfully bonded. (Please don't let me speak too soon!)

that's sooooooooo sweet fingers crossed for a good night all seems to be going well so far xx

Oooh, sounds like it's going well, I shall cross my piggie paws for you it all continues :)

I would say if they haven't fought, they will be friends, but thats just from what I have read in relation to bonding adults... so websites really!

I do hope they bond, let us know won't you?! :)

I hope that it is still working out!

With the right mix of characters, even adult boys can be happy together.

Well they're getting on ok still. (big sigh of relief!)

Spike isn't impressed with some of Stripe's habits tho!

but they did share breakfast together although of course wanted what the other one was eating.

There's a bit of squabbling but only grumpy old men bickering. LOL
Thank you for keeping your fingers crossed everyone! Lets hope they become good friends.

Fingers crossed - so far it's looking good.

I hope that they can make the transfer to their accommodation.

thats sweet wouldnt live be boring with out grumpy old men :p

They're already in it! They have a hugh hutch with a play area attached so they can run around all day. They've got more of the lounge than we have! lol
This is the set up before, we've just removed the middle fence so they've got loads of room now!
Homefortheboys.jpg

We just blocked off the hutch for a couple of hours after introducing them so they couldn't corner each other. They've now agreed on who gets which bedroom although Stripes is checking now and again. Spike's such a laid back pig but he will defend his bed!

Oh dear Stripes got a strop on last night and went for Spike, lots of chasing, rumble strutting, nipping and mounting according to Mike, the OH. When I went to bed they were both fast asleep and had been fine! Any way Mike seperated them he just couldn't leave them fighting and go to bed. I don't blame him but I wonder if it was something they just had to go through to work out who's boss. It all started over Stripes trying to get in Spike's bedroom. Now Spike is very laid back, he coped with the nipping every time he scratched, having his food taken out of his mouth and being kicked out his cozy but his bed was the final straw and he stood up for himself and finally nipped back!
They've had a few words through the fence today but I've kept them apart.
Not sure what to do now. Do we try again or leave them as neighbours?
Any suggestions?

As long as their scraps aren't bloody fights, let them just get on with it, please, and DO NOT SEPARATE!

Some scraps are to be expected, so that the top boy learns and accepts where bottom boy is drawing the line. Guinea pigs need to spell everything out, so it looks a lot rougher to us than it is for them!

As you have separated, the boys will have to start back in square one, so brace yourself to have to go through it all yet again! Just let them work it all out this time.

Thank you, I figured we'd be back to square one. The guides are really helpful, I had read them first, I think the OH over reacted but it was 2am and I think they were a bit tired and grumpy as well as him!
I think I'd of stayed up if they'd of started while I was still awake. (as I'm not working today especially) I think we'll wait until saturday morning as I'm off until Monday evening so it gives us plenty of time to keep an eye on them.
Fingers crossed for round two!

Yeah, you're best to let them work out. They need to squabble to sort out who's boss.
It's hard to watch them do it...But as said...Unless they're having bloody fights, don't split them up.
Just keep an eye on them. It's not easy to watch but it'll be better for them if they can sort it out themselves.

I hope it all goes well!

My boys STILL squabble now :)) Boys are real boars!

Take 2!
They've had a bath together, the hutch and play area have all been disinfected so all is clean, fresh and as neutral as I can get it!
They've been together all afternoon and no problems so far. (everything's crossed!) Managed to finally get a photo of the two of them together where they're both in focus. (excuse the red eye)

Enjoying life together...

AWWW - they look really sweet together!

Fingers crossed that they can work it out! They certainly have plenty of space in that palace of yours!

OMG just had such a scare. I'm sat on the sofa next to the pigs and looked over and Spike was all snuggled up in his cosy. Looked again a minute later and Stripes was laid on top of it! I couldn't see Spike and thought he'd squashed him!
Thank goodness Spike's ok, he'd gone into Stripe's cozy and pulled it down right over him.
Phew! I guess Spike would have complained a bit if he had sat on him!
I'm definately more nervous than them! lol
Silly woman!

they do look so sweet together x)

we always worry about our piggies ;) as they make us their slaves ;)
