She was perfectly fine at lunchtime but when I went to give the piggies their afternoon veggies Phoebe was grunting and hooting away.
Phoned vet - no problem at all fitting me in this evening. Gold star for understanding that guinea pigs need to be seen quickly.
Saw a lovely vet who won another gold star for saying my piggies are beautiful (Jemimah came too)
Phoebe had a thorough examination. She showed her appreciation of the thermometer up the bum by pooing all over the table :))

Another gold star for being happy to see such healthy looking poops.

Phoebe may just have inhaled her food but more likely it’s the beginnings of a respiratory infection so we have a week’s course of Enrobactin just to be on the safe side. Gold star for piggy awareness.
And one more gold star for recognising that Jemimah isn’t overweight, she’s just a big piggy.

I was impressed with our new vet even if Phoebe wasn’t.
Now for a whole week of medication :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

All the best for a good recovery and compliments for finding a good vet!

Aw, no poor Phoebe, me and the boys are wishing her a speedy recovery x

All in all, a very worthwhile visit then!
Was it one of the forum recommended vets?
No, although there is one a few miles away.
These are in the village where we live and seemed cavy savvy when I went in to ask questions before registering the herd.
I will add them to the list if they continue to be so good

Get well soon Phoebe. Vet sounds promising, long may it continue.

I liked the vet I chose for my sows. I’ll be eventually registering the boys there as well.

Phoebe was still snuggled in her pouch this morning so easy to capture. She won’t fall for that again!
She was still a bit wheezy but took her meds - eventually.
As soon as she went back she was straight into the hay.
My husband gave them their midday snack and said Phoebe was at the bars waiting.
When I gave her the 2nd dose for today she wasn’t wheezing, grunting or hooting.
She seems bright and happy, no discernible weight loss and a healthy appetite.
I think I caught it quickly and so she will be fully recovered before she’s finished her week of antibiotics.

Thank you for all your support. I appreciate having people to talk to who understand why I might be concerned about a guinea pig.

Yaaay I am so happy happy :yahoo: I ll eat a chocolate for celebration and one for u Phoebe🍫

Phoebe only has 3 more doses of Enrobactin to go, thankfully.
She was playing with Micah this morning - zooming, popcorning and chasing around the cage. I think she’s all better.
Weighed her again and no weight loss at all, in fact she’s put on a bit.
Hard to believe that she and Micah weigh almost the same at a little over 1200g
