Hi I have neve used fleece yet, where do you get it from and how often should you be expected to clean it out !?

You can buy either proper cage liners which have the absorbent layer already stitched in, or you can buy fleece blankets from a shop and then have to have a separate absorbent layer underneath (mattress protector, puppy pads etc).
It has to be the right type of fleece as some just won’t wick properly.
It has to be washed and dried several times before you can use it to ensure it wicks.
It will need to be poo picked a couple of times per day and then fully changed out every 3-5 days but it is going to depend on how big your cage is, how many piggies you’ve got etc

A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

I have bought fleece from ikea, B&M and eBay as well. Have a look on the latter, lots of choice.

In our small cage we are using old an old bathroom carpet as absorbing layer (cotton) under a clean synth baby towel that lets urine through. In the big cage we just have a baby towel on the top floor because they don't pee up there, and downstairs we put hemp litter.
We wash everything every 6-7 days but do some minor cleaning in between. When Evo was wounded due to a fight, we allowed it only the small cage and kept it very clean until it got better.
We chose to split between fleece and hemp when our teenage monsters asked for separate rooms : that was too much hemp and at the time we didn't have a compost place. We're not turning all-fleece because they also seem to really enjoy hemp.

Hi I’m just thinking through bedding too. Where do you get hemp from? Is it like hay?

Aubiose hemp bedding can be obtained from horse feed places. Aubiose web site will give you a list of local stockist...if you are in the uk.you can order from amazon, but this charge is nearly double.it retails at £10 to £11,for 20kgs.

We get hemp litter from the pet and garden store (France). It is more expensive and less common than the regular pine shreds but works better and is less dusty.
We compost the used hemp litter and use it in our little garden for the vegetables and as a winter blanket for peach and apple trees too.
