I'm getting a gate tomorrow and wondering what you all put down for floor time.

I won't have tons of room but I'm going to be sitting in the pen, too, so I thought a small pile of hay and a hide.

How long can they be in there? My boys are neighbors so can't be together they will have to take turns.

I'm trying to tame Chez.

Tunnels. Fleecy beds. Stools to hide under. Cardboard boxes with at least two entrances. Hay. Water and some forage or other treats sprinkled around.

Squeak dreams has some lovely floor time videos on youtube.

With hay available and tunnels to run around in, they should be able to stay out for a while. Half an hour or longer, but they might need to get used to being out. I think they enjoy the exercise ❤️

Our first piggies H&H loved a giant CCGrid playpen, tunnels, footstools, water bottle & lots of hay. They would climb up on us for veggie treats.

Now Wally & Loki live separately I usually create 2nd home, with a divide down the middle, on the floor as it’s not safe to roam free in our house, so floor time just becomes a change of scenery with different things to explore.
Once it’s made- the boys usually get a couple of hours every evening, for a week or 2, until I decide we need a big clean!

I hope your boys enjoy a change, it may take them a while to become accustomed to the new space.

Don't be upset if they don't move for the first few times you try floor time. A change of scenery can be a bit scary for prey animals and they may need time to get used to it. As they become more accustomed to it, they will start exploring.

I'm hoping they crawl on me
Mine ran around a whole room when they had floor-time so I had space to lie down with them some times and they certainly inspected me though they weren't too interested in climbing onto me, unless I maybe had a piece of cucumber with which to tempt them back into their transport cage. Without the cucumber they would lean up against my legs, putting their front paws on the top of my horizontal leg.

When I sat next to them, they'd run over my bare feet, as if they didn't notice the feet were part of me. I liked to feel their little paws and claws running over me though.

Mine certainly liked to explore - all around the room, so I put hideys out, cardboard boxes with door-holes cut, tunnels, (some of my hideys and tunnels were fleece, so used those too for piggies snuggling and/or just enjoying different textures under foot.) Apart from hay, and a bit of cucumber occasionally to tempt my piggies somewhere, I didn't feed them during floor time and no treats (apart from cuc).
