Folded fleece throw

Would a fleece throw folded in half over an absorbent layer work?

I might be wrong but I think I remember reading someone say that folded/double layer of fleece actually doesn’t work as well as a single layer?

I've not heard a double layer doesn't work as well but you could put the absorbent layer between the two fleece layers, like a cage liner without the stitching.

I tried it a few months back but it made the cage dirtier faster. If you make sure that you clean the extra food pellets, hay, and Guinea pig poops that slip under there when you spot clean then it’ll last longer.
