Hiya, I heard somewhere that guinea pigs will stop eating when they’re full... I’ve noticed recently my boys have been going through a lot of hay then they normally would ( i would fill their rack up in the morning and it would be empty when I got back home ) now I’m starting to question if I’m feeding them too much. What is the right amount of pellets/hay and fresh veggies I should give them a day?
 
Mine get unlimited hay more than they can eat.
About a cup of veg rough guess i don't measure it.
1 tablespoon of pellets for my pigs that eat them (not all do)
They also get fresh cut grass everyday.

Mine would eat constantly if i let them.. no stopping because they were full!
 
@Sammi1 is right there - More hay they than they can eat is a god way of saying how much hay to put in
 
Mine are the same as Sammi.
One cup of veg per pig per day
One tablespoon of pellets per day
Load up with hay morning and evening and then again a couple of times during the day if they’ve made a mess of it (and given my two won’t use hay racks, then messing up is very frequent!)
 
I give endless supply of Kaytee Timothy hay to my Finn and Lara. I get regular shipment delivered to my house. Also, I sometimes buy them from local pet store when they go on sale as you can see in this photo. The Kaytee Timothy hay is Wafer Cut, which is a little less messy.

I am more proactive when it comes to Finn and Lara's health. If I know their teeth will outgrow from not chewing on enough hay throughout the day, I just provide them with plenty of hay. This beats visits to the vet any day.

I also make sure they get plenty of vitamins through meals so I give veggies three times a day, and some pellets. They get fruits as treats.
I clean their cages regularly so they are not sitting in urine, which can cause problems later on down the road. I use vinegar to clean as well to kill all the bacteria, which can cause them harm.
 
Treat them as though you’d treat a horse- hay hay hay and more hay. They need it to keep their guts moving and to keep their teeth worn down. 80% of the diet should be hay. Like horses they are constant grazers 24/7.
