I am thinking about getting two guinea pigs but was wondering whether or not I needed to feed their veggies in their food bowl. I would get a food bowl for their pellets, but was wondering if I could just place their veg on the fleece floor. Also, when preparing their veg, with things like lettuce leaves, would I need to cut them up into small pieces or can I just give them giant leaves?

i think it depends on the bedding, if you’re going to use wood shaving then probably yes so the veggies don’t get dirty, but i use reusable puppy pads and fleece and i just give them a handful on the ground

also for veg i usually cut it a bit, just not too small, maybe one or two inch cubes

I usually cut their veg and then put it in their hay tray where they can all get round it.

I just throw their veg around the cage so they have to look for it/amongst hay etc. Their pellets get sprinkled around as well so they can forage for them rather than just eat from a bowl - keeps them occupied

I typically used a small kitchen plate. After the they were done I just popped the plate in the dishwasher. I find bowls sold for piggies can be rather small and a bit tall—plates are lower for easy eating, larger, and don’t mess up the bedding.

Mine have their dinner and nuggets in a bowl and their breakfast is hand fed cos one piggy steals everyone's once hers has all gone!

Is your piggies kept inside or outside?
