PiggyPepsi

Hello, I need some advise with feeding my new piggy,

Currently my piggy i am going to be getting tonight is eating meusli. However, i wont be allowing this forever because i'd like him to be on nuggets like my other Piggy. I need to ween him onto nuggets and i am wondering how this is done. on the pets at home bag of nuggets it says ween him over 10 days.

Do i mix a few nuggets with his meusli?

also he is 3 months is there anything i should avoid with him being this young?

I usually aim for about three weeks in weaning piggies over.

You can either try the softly softly approach by increasingly mixing pellets into the muesli.

Or you can try the shock method by switching immediately. Many people on the continent have their piggies on a dry food free diet, so it's not the end of the world if he isn't eating pellets while on a good veg diet that contains all the necessary vitamins and trace elements.

However, if the new boy is not used to veg, be careful in introducing only one new veg at a time and repeat any he doesn't eat first time round.

Here is more info on balanced veg diets and the proportions of pellets and hay you should give:

Well from what i know so far he was on museli. And tbh it doesnt look apeptising to me. So i mixed in a few nuggets. When i looked in his cage he was also given bread. Which he won't be getting again!

He will be on a healthy balanced diet, with the correct veg hay, and grass that he needs. He's just sleeping at the moment in his new little bed, and he's had some hay. He is beautiful and I'm proud to be a parent to another little piggy xx

If I'm swapping food I usually just change them over, unless the pig is fussy or has a usually sensitive tummy. I'd wean them over a week if you want to do it gradually, mixing pellets and muesli together, gradually increasing the amount of pellets and decreasing the muesli. Obviously if your pig is fussy they may turn their nose up at their food bowl. As long as they're eating hay and veg until they get used to their new food, they will be fine.
