This is probably a really stupid question but I want to get it right before my piggies arrive.

How much food should I give each day? ie how much in pellets and how much fresh veg/fruit?

should I throw away any uneaten food each time i refill or just top up the bowl?

thanks

cx

On the back of the packet of food you have it should say how much i think burgess is 30 grams a day but just check, they should eat whats given i usually throw any dirt out and clean the bowl out every week or so (:

Hay is unlimited all day everyday.

Vegetables 1 cup of varied high vitamin c veggies !

Veggies uneaten should be thrown out after a small amount of time.

Hope that helps (:

Hi and welcome!

Good idea to inform yourself before you get your piggies.

A good diet consists of:
- unlimited hay (up to 80% of the daily food intake)
- unlimited pellets for young piggies until their weekly growth rate slows down; then very gradually reduced to the half or handful of pellets that a mature adult after 15 months old needs. Please choose pellets over muesli.
- 1 cupful of mixed veg per piggy per day in how many servings you like. Please try to inlcude one high vitamin C veg or fresh herb every day, like one slice of pepper of any colour, a floret or other part of broccoli, a sprig of fresh coriander/cilantro, parsley, dill, mint or basil per piggy. Please vary between these. For other veg and fruit please see the link in the previous post.
- fresh water with no additives daily.

Big no nos:
- any nuts, seeds, dried or frozen fruit and veg, dairy (including yoghurt) and sugar (including honey). Go for herbal and forage treats instead.

Please weigh your piggies weekly throughout their lives; it is a vital part of their health monitoring and can save lives.

Thanks for posting this! I was just about to post asking the same thing as I was worried I wasn't giving mine enough food but as it turns out it's perfect. We over-fed the last lot we had to I was struggling to work out the perfect amount for my little'uns. They eat everything so fast that I was thinking I wasn't feeding them enough.
