I just had a cuddle with McMac and he seems to have suddenly developed scabs on his front paws :( His back paws look a little red but no scabs I think.

I will try and get a picture. It's hard to see because he has curled nails and so he sort of clutches his hand and it makes a little ball, hiding the pad. I don't remember seeing it when he got back from the vets or anything.

He seems happy and is walking about like normal and everything. And he has been doing so well recovering from his op.

It doesn't look like bumblefoot from other pictures I've seen (never experienced it first hand). They just look a little dry and crusty. Perhaps try some Gorgeous Guineas perfect paws ointment or failing that some good old Sudocreme or Vaseline?

Ohh I hope your right. I don't want him getting ill just as he is recovering.

He really could do with a bath. I haven't given him one in a while since he has been so ill. But maybe a nice warm soak and some ointment will do him some good

I wonder if he has been sitting in his wee as he has been poorly. poor little man.

I agree that i think maybe it’s more urine scalding then bumble foot !
Probably due to him being poorly and sitting in his wee wee like piggyfan said.

Hope his little feet feel better soon ! :)

Ahh yeah that's a good point. I tried to keep them cleaned out as often as I could but he was urinating almost constantly and was just sitting in it as he couldn't move.

Totally relieved it's not something else. Phew. Thankyou.

His front paws look red and inflamed and could be urine scald....with possibly a fungal infection starting to "bed in" as an opportunistic infection.

Try sudocream on his paws - that should provide a barrier to the urine.

My pig developed bumblefoot after havnig tongue surgery. I kept her on newspaper which was changed twice daily but she still got it. I would severaly suggest putting doubled over handtowels down over the areas they sit the most. It's better at absorbing the urine and can be whipped out super quick and replaced whenever, and washed and dried on the radiators for the next day. Also be careful about the washing up powder you use on the towels incase this makes it worse (as the skin is compramised its not such a good barrier to chemicals). I only used a tiny amount and gave the towels a baby care wash!

Gorgeous guineas is a good idea if you can. Good luck, it looks like you caught it early! x
