Does it matter if you feed Cuisine to babies, or can it be harmful? Alternatively can the Perfomance be harmful for adults? Just in a bit of a predicament as we have an adult in with a 5wk old baby, and can't separate their foods. Thanks.

I *think* the cavy cuisine perfomance is based on alfalfa and the normal cavy cuisine on timothy hay, so potentially the performance shouldn`t be fed to adult piggies as too much alfalfa in the diet isnt good for them. I dont see why you cant give both normal cavy cusine and give baby a little alfalfa cubes by hand if you think it necessary?

It is recommeded pregnant and nursing Sows and piggies under a year to be given alfafa hay :) Hope that helps a little ;)

Your welcome :) it will not harm whichever one you feed out of those two wish it was sold local to me then my lot would be on it ;) hate buying online.

We get ours online too from SPH, I've never seem it in shops. Does anyone know why adult pigs shouldn't really have alfalfa (apart from nursing/pregnant etc)?

i was thining of getting the cavy performance for meeka to help her maintain her weight, shes 1 year old will this food be ok for her?

Alfalfa is a big contributor to stones. Oxbow recently did a study on it. Where mine are mixed I give Cuisine, they only have Performance if they're all youngsters.

I think Burgess Supa Guinea Excel pellets are really good for building up!

Thanks Karen, I was sure there was a reason!

Does anyone know where you can get Alfalfa especially for our little baby, and how old they should be before I stop supplementing them? Thanks!

Go for the Cavy Cuisine. If she's over a year the Performance will be too much calcium for her.
