This all sounds like such a great idea, but who is being targetted. When I go to P@H the piggies always seem well cared for - but where have they come from...?
Thankfully I've only ever been to one petshop (about 10 years ago) where I was shocked by the animals. It sold lots of reptiles and knives (odd I know...) then there were pens full of Piggies and Rabbits together in their own faeces with no food, water or hay. Although they were supposedly for sale I suspect they were really intended as snake food. I told the scary owners they needed food and water and just got a shrug, so I took a water bottle from a different cage and gave it to the ones who didn't have any - big mistake as it started an all out fight between the desperately thirsty animals...
I still feel terrible about it, but was only 15 at the time and didn't think to call the rspca. The shop was in a town somewhere near Nottingham but I can remember where... but it still plays on my mind! :0
I would be all for a pressure group that contacts places where the animals are kept in this kind of squallor.
