one of the pigs started chirping again just now, so i went over and it was maisie, and i sat next to the cage and she carried on... but she was breathing quickly to make that noise, it had a weird rhythm to it, but worryingly, she was making chattering noises with her teeth at the same time. and it almost looked like she was wheezing and making the noise because of that..

it was like she was in a trance though, so when i went to stroke her she ran off all wide eyed and scared.

since then though, she has eaten her brekkie, and wandered around, and is now munching hay with chesney. :{

should i be worried do you think? it's like she is fine but then chirps and goes really jumpy. do you think it could be her breathing and that noise is because of that?

she was popcorning round last night. she's eating and drinking fine. the only thing different this week is that she has managed to tangle her fur on her bum and underneath. she was quiet the other day and i checked her over and she had a big knot. i managed to untangle it and get that sorted but she now has another two. i have ordered some conditioner from gorgeous guineas, and a shaver to trim the area. could it be hurting her and making her upset and make this noise maybe? i really don't know. :{

one minute i'm really worried, the next she is fine, popcorning round and i think maybe i am over-reacting.

but she has never chirped before apart from three days ago and now today. i'm scared something is wrong and she knows. :(

i wonder if she has been freaked out by something?

sometimes animals have a sixth sense too@)

i did wonder if maybe the knots are hurting her? pulling at her skin maybe and making her upset and scared?

she has been trying to untangle and clean herself alot.

i'm getting the trimmers today, and hopefully the gorgeous guineas shampoo/conditioner will arrive soon.

the only other things are they are right next to the wall and next doors stairs are right on the other side and they make a right racket using them. but that's not a new thing. also, hearing something outside would have happened before now aswell.

there was something last year though, she was petrified but i didn't know that was what was wrong, she was moving funny and breathing weird, so i rushed to the vets and she was fine. turns out something had scared her. and later i noticed a spider in the cage and she was terrifed. same when flies go near in summer, buzzing over them, she gets so scared. but i've checked and can't find anything.

could be a ghost! :... be just my luck that! although i have sensed something like that before, and thought i did see one. :...

i really don't know what's wrong with her, if there is anything. :(

ah, i know what else is different, the sound of cars on the snow driving past. our downstairs is one big room, so the pigs are technically in the hall, in the lounge, and near the front door aswell. maybe she doesn't like that. and the new neighbours go out alot and come back, drive past the door, slam the doors, walk up their stairs so loud. maybe she doesn't like it.

just another possible reason. thinking anything than that she might be ill or something and knows. i couldn't bear that. :(

just listened to clips on youtube and maisie sounded the same as them. they kind of sound wheezy as the chirping slows down.

some look scared when they do it and some look fine. it's very strange. wonder why she has suddenly started doing it. :{

I have never managed to get close enough to Willow when she sings to answer to be honest. And there doesn't seem to be anything to set her off. A couple of times Pippa and Pixel seem to have frozen when she's done it though.

Like Maisie, she just carries on oblivious afterwards. She's done it probably close to 10 times in all and (touch wood, finger's crossed) we've had no illnesses or anything.

There's nothing that I can put Willow's singing down to... it's just something she does sometimes! :)

mmmmMMMMmmmm I'm not sure its very strange i would just keep a close eye on her and see how she is, keep a close eye that she doesnt get runny eyes or very crackly chest or runny nose x

thanks :)

she seems fine, been doing popcorns.

i've just shaved her! i'll update on the other thread :)
