Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everyone,
the day before yesterday I finally got around to built a second level for my C&C cage so my newly rescued piggies Pom-Pom and Moonpig could live in the living room and Yoshi could have someone to talk to as well. Here is the finished cage, Yoshi lives upstairs at the moment and the girls downstairs.
Yesterday evening Yoshi totally freaked out at me, I was just bringing in the veggies and he behaved very strangely, running panicky from one wooden house to the next and then he jumped up the wall, I have never seen him jump that high or behave like that! My finacee thought it would be a good idea to get him out to check if he had hurt himself....so we he tried to get Yoshi who was still frantically running and jumping like mad and Yoshi ended up jumping out of his cage, onto my fiancee's leg and then on the floor where I caught him. I sat down on the sofa with him and checked if he hurt himself, but he seemed alright. I tried to tempt him with some food but he just sat there with eyes wide open and brrrrr-ing at me.
I put him back after he had calmed down a bit and he just run into his house. In the night about 2:50am my fiancee woke me up and said "Can you hear that noise?". I just woken up and hurt this clicking sound and went downstairs to check on Yoshi but of course the sound stopped. When I went back to bed my fiancee said that the sound had been going on for a while, it sounded like a exotic bird chirping. I thought "Awwwwwwww I know what that is, it was one of the guinea pigs chirping!".
When I came downstairs this morning Yoshi hadn't eaten anything out of his bowls (I had put some cucumber and basil into his house for the night though) and he still seemed a bit scared. I made them veggies as usual and just put some in his house and he started eating them, still a bit vary of me. I stroked him a bit and he started purring at me (which he has done a lot since the girls moved in) so he seems a bit more relaxed now.
I don't know what could have scared him that much, the only thing I can think of is that I scared him when I got the girls out for a cuddle yesterday evening, it's a bit awkward to catch them as they haven't been handled a lot and I might have bumped my head on the bottom of the second floor. I got them out yesterday afternoon as well, but then he was just fine.
He gave me quite a fright, I hope he will calm down some more and come out of his house on his own again soon. Poor boy!
