I was wondering is there vitamin C in fresh grass? And other nutrients.

I know there must be something more than fibre, but what? I know it has low nutrional value, but wondering if it's lower than veggies, say green leafy veg. And if it does contribute to their nutrition if they have it in large amounts?

My piggies have been eating so much of it lately, the girls are barely touching their pellets, and they are eating hay too and some veggies, but mostly grass (not getting tummy upsets though, don't worry).

Thanks :)

My pigs have lived on a mostly grass diet for years and all appear well on it.

They are also given fresh veg and/or fruit twice a day with unlimited supplies of nuggets. They eat more nuggets in the winter when their runs are moved to the garage although they are offered unlimited readigrass (dried grass for horses)

I couldn't imagine keeping mine without fresh grass and being outdoors - they are fairly wild but as long as they are well and happy thats what is important!

Grass is more nutritious than hay; I'm working my way through the RHA course from the CCT and it's classed as greens in there. Additionally, unless you use weedkiller on your lawn, it probably contains lots of edible weeds which are highly nutritious; e.g. dandelions are common in lawns and contain loads of vitamin C.

Like yours, my guinea-pigs are dieting on a very weedy lawn plus lots of veggies and hay at night, and are very healthy. As it's summer, they're not getting many pellets but they do get more in the winter when they can't eat the grass.

I think grass might be closer to their natural diet than pellets. What do you think Furries? As you're doing the RHA course, does the course tell you about what a guineas natural diet would be?
