Hi,

I have 2 pairs of sows, one pair who are 13 months old and the other pair are 10 weeks old.

Could someone please tell me how much (weight wise) of fresh veg i should be giving each pair of sows.

I have read Lauras sticky regarding diet advice and can see that piggies eat between 5-10g of each veg but am unsure how much each age group should be having.

My girls always have 5 different veg each day if that helps.

Many Thanks
Claire xx

The amount of veg is always the same at any age!

Younger guinea pig that are still gorwing a lot get unlimited pellets, whereas you do not want to give too much to adult piggies in order to keep them from going fat. Hay should be unlimited at all times.

Thanks Wiebke - My girls do get unlimited Hay and the young girls get unlimited pellets which i believe should remain until 6 months. My older girls get about half a cup of pellets in the morning and again in the evening - is this right ?

My girls get 5 (sometimes 6 ) different veg a day and at the moment, i am giving them 6g of each veg both morning and night which equates to 50-60g of veg per pig, per day - does this seem about right ?
