Hi, I buy this Friendly readiness for my two guinea pigs Cookie and Maisey. I found it in Jollye's pet superstore and thought i'd give it a go. It's only £2 something in my local Jollyes.
Much cheaper than the hay I used to get from P&H. Though it's a fairly small bag but still it's ok *** it's not that expensive. And it says it's better than hay and highly nutitionist. My guinea pigs love it.

I googled it, and wanted to find a picture of the packaging to show you all what I mean.

anyone else tried this?

I give this to my piggies. They love it. It smells so yummy.

I ain't too keen on the smell, smells like a farm LOL but i think my piggies love the sweet smell

Mine loved dried grass (any brand) - they have a handful every day. You are still giving your piggies hay aren't you? Dry grass is given as a supplement to hay not instead of :)

Isn't hay just dried grass? I don't see how it's different. I'm probably missing something...

On the packaging it says you can give it to them on it's own or with hay. (I give them veggies still of course)

Yeah I thought hay was dried grass anyway.

Redigrass, well the one I used to buy as a treat, was basically grass with all water taken out but all the nutrients that fresh grass has, I believe it was fast dried, hay is dried slower and has a higher fibre content and less nutricious content as I understand it.

I will stand corrected however.

Is it not something to do with the length of the hay /grass.I believe that they need it long to keep the teeth short, also redigrass has more nutrients than hay so too much could make them fat. MINE always have unlimited hay and redigrass once a day.

Small wars have broken out in my hutches over that stuff! Mine certainly seem to like it :)) But having said that they always go back to their hay so I give it as a treat rather than a main dietary staple.

so I should give them the readigrass along with some hay? ok, well i can't afford to buy two packs of two different things for them. So maybe I should just go back to buying hay and give that to them only?

The only issue I have with readigrass and other dried grasses is the length of the strands. It's chopped short. One of the benefits of hay is the long strands which encourage optimal dental wear; another is that eating long strands of hay engages them for a while and prevents boredom and barbering. For those reasons, I would not give dried grass alone all the time. Not to say that others do not do so successfully, but personally I feel a good quality hay offers them more benefits.

Why dont you mix the hay and readigrass together that way you will be spending the same as you will have one bag of each if you get what i mean and give half and half. :p

I haven't been able to get readigrass locally so use justgrass instead. I managed to pick up a small bag of Friendly Readigrass when I was over in Scotland and I actually prefer it to the Justgrass.

My concern is also how chopped it is and how rich it is so I also use it mixed with hay.
