Howdy, got a problem.
A friend of mine's granddaughter has a guinea pig named Max. Max was on my chest and moved up to my shoulder then proceeded to bite my ear ring so I reached up and removed him and put him on my chest.. I reached up and touched my ear ring to get poked by the prongs as Max had somehow bit or pulled the stone out of my earring and was chewing on it. Tried getting it away but didn't manage. Think the fool swallowed my diamond. So what do we do now besides poop Patrol? I don't know the first thing about guinea pigs and this is her first and she's only had him a couple of months. We could sure use some help.1561254968655516682141.webp

A very interesting snack choice lol. I would advise watching the guinea pig and checking for any change in behaviour/appetite. The only issue here is if the diamond causes a blockage or tears anything down there. Just watch for a sudden decreased appetite, lethargy or any odd behaviours. If this occurs i would see a vet.

Hopefully you won't notice anything and the diamond will simply pass through the little guy. Guinea pigs often tuck into things they shouldnt.

I would take him to the vet straight away for a x-ray and possibly an operation to remove the diamond before it causes a blockage and a very ill and uncomfortable piggy.

I would think it will pass through in 24 hours, unless it was a very large diamond, if so then a vet check up would be wise. You may need to invest in a sieve, soak the poos in a small bucket of water and rinse through a fine sieve, that way you should find it, if not then up to the vets x
Good luck, tell us all how you got on!

Please monitor for 24-48 hours and see a vet asap if there are signs of acute discomfort/ your baby being off.
I second @Bill & Ted 's advice.

It was small, only a bit bigger than his turds. Hope it will come out

By sieving the poop you are doing two things, checking to make sure the diamond has passed safely through the piggie and also reclaiming your diamond x 👍

Welcome to the forum.
I can’t add to the advice given.
Hope all works out well - both for the piggy and diamond retrieval

Is there any chance the diamond fell ... and Max didn’t eat it ?

(I appreciate you want to monitor poos ... I would too in your situation... but it would be worth checking your clothing ...and the surroundings where it happened too 🤔)

yes I once lost a ring for nearly a year, it had fallen into a boot at the bottom of the wardrobe!

Already done that... Bella didn't wanna poop patrol so she gave me a bag full of pissy paper shreds, hay bits, food sticks and turds. Just spent an hour and a half dissecting the turds. Nothing so far. I have one conclusion... guinea pigs POOP A LOT
