The day after I took my piggies to their first vet check up I noticed Fudge had developed a patch of dry skin on her ear. Typical that it wasn't there when she had her check up!

I put tea-tree oil on it in hopes to clear it up but it's got a lot a worse. I've tried Aloe Vera as well.

Does anyone know what it could be/how to treat it? Should I just take them to vet?
I think, if I remember from my childhood our old piggies had this once and they all had to be taken to the vet for a jab :/

Hi there

The ear looks pretty typical of ringworm, you will need a confirmed diagnosis from a vet (preferably one that is experienced in guinea pigs) and some antifungal treatment to clear it. If you need a recommendation for a good vet please let us know.

Noooooo! I've finally been got by the dreaded curse of Pets at Home then!

Thank you, I'll book them in immediately and warn everyone who's been in contact with them

Thank you for the healing vibes!

Just an update: Vets confirmed it was ringworm so I have to syringe feed her antibiotics every day and rub some lotion on her ear until it's gone. It looks to be clearing up and surprisingly, Pets at Home agreed to pay for the treatment as soon as I asked and without argument.

Hopefully, it will be all cleared up soon!
