Me and my Boyfriend went to Long Leat today and saw the most beautiful piggies! BUT they were HUGE!

how long does it normally take for them to grow?

All mine have been fed the same and I have small pigs around the 2lb mark) in Amber and Eccles my biggest pigs are almost 3lb Fleur, Flora, Sunshine, Twinkle, Milo and Jasper. The rest aren't full size

Everyone says my pigs are huge though...I dunno they are just average to me. But as much as I love chunky pigs it can't be that healthy can it? :)

Guinea pigs have most of their adult size by about 1 year with usually one last growth spurt afterwards. they should have finished at about 15 months.

Size can vary a lot, even in the same litter. I've just adopted two ten months old sisters. One is 800g and one 950g and looking like she is at least one month older! But she is also a lot less active...

I would imagine it went on how active they are. Pearl who we lost in February was like a ferret! Very long but slim and was never still! When she passed over the other four missed her greatly.

I forgot Radley too he is full grown but not massive, just over 2lb Just like us they are all different. :)

not sure but i think rexs are the biggest breed of piggy.:)

I forgot again about Goldmoon who is a sheltie she is massive! I always thought the longhaired pigs were smaller than usual! But she is such a chunky girl! :(|)

i have a rescue sheltie sow come to think of it she is very big too and long

bodied i always thought sows were smaller but she is massive too is this

common of most sheltie are they a bigger breed?

I have a 1lb 14oz pig and a 3lb 8oz pig. No difference to how they've been fed or looked after at all! Genetics certainly play a big part. You get dainty pigs, you get...ahem...let's say "big-boned" pigs.

Out of my 2 Smartie is about 1/3 smaller then Minty. They are both the same age and minty is much bigger, noy just the hair, you can see it in her head.

Healthy weights

Hi All,

Just been searching through the posts as I'm a bit worried about my piggy.:{

I have 2 boars about the same age perhaps a weeks difference. one long haired - Reilly and the other Smooth - Nummies
I got them on the 21st Feb and i guess they were about 8-10 weeks old. xoxo
they were both the same size and weight.. over the last couple of months Nummies has grown a lot faster than Reilly I got some brand new electronic scales yesterday and weighed them.. (had been using the normal ones which were hard to read with all the moving...)Nummies weighed 1100g but Reilly was only just hitting 750g
you can really see the difference even tho Reilly is So fluffy and hairy he is tiny compared to Nummies..
He also slopes down gracefully to his bottoms and his legs are short. whereas Nummies seems to be taller on his legs and his butt... well... Jennifer Lopez would be proud.. :pis it normall for these pigs to be so different..
I couldn't put it down to food because they both get the same.. veggies in seperate bowls they do share the hay rack but have seperate water and houses and places to hide and apart from the odd bit of rumbling or head raising they have never fought.. I don't think Reilly is bullied if anything he is the more dominant little thing...grrrr I don't know what to think..

A xx
