Fungal Issue

My OH just noticed a funny patch on Snowy. Upon closer inspection (I had to part his hair) he has a small bald spot with flaking skin which is slightly red, probably due to scratching. It does not look like the ringworm pics I have seen on this forum, but I have not had this issue before so I could be very wrong.

I hope that I am wrong.

I have not noticed him scratching a lot, but I will get him a vet appointment tomorrow.

I will also treat all other piggies, as they have had contact through the bars of the cages.

He is being neutered on Friday, so that might not be going ahead now? Would this stop the operation?

Obviously you need to see what the vet says, but I can't imagine a mild fungal infection would prevent the neutering.
But it could depend on the type of fungal and the location.
I am sure the vet will guide you, plus someone on here is bound to know.

Snowy has ringworm.

He is on Intrafungol oral solution 0.33ml for 7 days then a week off then another dose for 7 days.

It's on his flank. Poor lil one.

Poor chap. Don't worry. Piggies usually respond well to intrafungol solution. Just take precautions when handling him, and clean all his cage with F10 that kills fungal spores. Soak all wooden toys with F10 and wash all bedding at 60degrees. It's a pain, but you don't want any fungal spores to survive and re-infect him or the girls. I'm sure he will be fine.

I have given him his first dose...such a tiny amount! He was such a good boy and he had some fruit to take away the taste afterwards. (I am assuming it tastes horrible).

I have thrown away his wooden toys, chub and Seagrass tunnel. I will buy him new once he is no longer has ringworm.

I have transferred him to the bigger playpen with a plastic tunnel, his pellet dish, a huge mound of hay, a cuddle cup and he will have a snuggle pouch back once they have been washed. He is on puppy pads as I feel they are more hygienic.

I am bonding the girls and all three of them are in the C&C cage in the back room, as dominance went well for 3 and a half hours. I have banned the OH from the back room as I am aware that the squealing will alarm him. I'm just letting them get on with it, but I do check every so Often for any blood. Just in case.
