My piggy has a large pee stain on his back legs and I wondered if a bum bath is required to prevent bacteria accumulating in his fur, leading to possible health issues.
I won't stress my guinea pig with a bum bath if the stains don't cause health problems.

What colour is he?
You can try a bum bath but pee stains on white fur don’t always come out.

He is white and black. Where the stains are it is white.
The look of the yellow tint on his fur doesn't bother me, I'm just worried that the pee stuck in his fur is unhealthy for him.

He should be cleaning himself so there shouldn’t be pee stuck in his hair as such. It should just be stains which are not a problem.

If his hair is matted, wet, he’s dirty and he isn’t cleaning himself, then he may need a bath.

If he smells there, give him a wash. Our Bruce has a wonky willy and stains his left leg. After a couple of weeks the hair that is stained starts to smell and become a little crusty. So he gets a bum bath every so often.

my white piggies which get stained fur from urine. i give a hair cut where it is stained,or i find it can start to smell.

We've never had this problem except with a long-haired pig with balance issues, who couldn't clean himself properly. We kept his fur trimmed around his bum to help with it.

Thank you all for your replies,
I decided to give him a bath and now he's a lot better. I know that bathing a guinea pig should not be necessary, but in this case it helped a lot.
Again, thanks for all your help 🙂

If the staining is a new issue please keep an eye on him checking for weight loss or other symptoms. Some piggies do just get stained from sitting in their own wee, but staining can get worse with either infection or blood in the urine or because they are becoming less mobile (which can also be a sign of pain or illness).
