I don't know where else to post this, because my student union are crap, my university are taking their sweet time in answering my questions and i'm getting incredibly frustrated.
I used to work for a newly established steakhouse restaurant set up in March 2010 - until my manager called me on Christmas Eve of all days, to inform me that their administrator had called him that day to force closing, because they weren't making money and were bankrupt.
I had been off work for almost 4 weeks because of a serious illness, prior to that i probably took one shift off. My boss was aware of my condition and not once during those weeks let me know that, a) the business was up for sale and had been since November, b) that my job might be under threat and c) had another member of staff making posters & flyers for the new year.
I'm so angry grrrr
I was told I'd get a letter from the administrator to fill in and send back so i could claim owed wages and sick pay (never in my time there was holiday or sick pay even mentioned).
He doesn't answer my calls, CAB and Merseyside Employment law aren't sure what to suggest and as this a family business, another member of staff rang the other restaurant and its running as usual - now i don't much understand business, but as a student do i have a legal right to anything?
My student loan cleared my overdraft (which i wouldnt have gone into had i not been off work so long) and paid my rent, now i have nothing.
I cant even afford Tesco value food or bus fare.
My guinea pig is living on nuggets, hay and out of date discount veggies because i cannot buy anything. My poor boyfriend is literally stretching the pennies.
Does anybody have any suggestions before i go mental, please?
