Fussy Guinea pig

Does anyone else have a fussy guinea pig when it comes to fruit, I only give it a couple of days. What are the best fruits, as he wont eat orange, which was told is the best for them because of the vitamin C.

What do you all feed your guinea pigs, is twice a day allright. Is muesli or pellets better, as George is on muesli but is very picky about it, problem is a lot more places do muesli then pellets.

His favourite is cucumber and brussel sprouts, but want to give him a mixed salad and try him on different things. what are the best vegs and how much daily

I feed my pair the museli and they seem to enjoy it. Salad-wise they have cucumber, carrots (not every day), kale, beetroot salad, cabbage, cauliflower leaves, broccoli, coriander and parsley (occasionally).

Pellets are much better as they are a complete food and do not encourage selective feeding. It is okay if your little one will not eat fruit as it is not essential. You could give him a vitamin C tablet each day crushed and put on a slice of cucumber. Here are the ones I buy:

I would not feed brussel sprouts every day as it can cause wind.

have a read of this it lists good and bad foods.

oranges are not the best source of vitamin c and should only be fed once a week anyways.

Red Peppers actually contain double the vitimins of most veggies and double the vitimin C of a orange, although they do have a slightly higher sugar content to other veggies so maybe alternate with a green pepper every other day.

can you also use vitamin C tablets from supermarkets/Chemists

My pig is so picky he will only eat the skin of the strawberry, refusses to eat carrots, and will only eat the edges of the kale. No, he can't eat the middle of the kale, only the edges.
