My lovely pig Snowy has suddenly started farting a lot.
There’s been the occasional raspberry in the past but she seems to be doing it more often.
Today for example she’s farted 4 times in the last hour! They sound a little bit like when you make a balloon squeak letting the air out of it.
She’s eating happily (lots) and pooping too. She’s generally been a very heathy pig but I lost her sister to bloat a year ago this week and now I’m scared that it is happening to her.

The only thing different to normal in terms of diet is a some little gem lettuce which she had for the first time yesterday and again this morning. (That’s ok isn’t it?)
Along with a little cucumber, carrot and spinach but she’s had all those before.

She has her annual MOT booked with the vet but that’s not til next week.

Any suggestions? Am I over thinking things or am I right to be concerned?

Many thanks for your help.

I didn’t know that so thanks.

I’ve just cleaned her cage out do I can keep track of pooping but as soon as she was back she was happily munching on the fresh hay.
She also did a big wee when I put her back as she refuses to wee on me or any where other than her cage.

I had a feel of her tummy which seems her normal portly self and she didn’t cry out or anything. Just her normal rumble when she’s had enough of being pawed about. She did have a piece of hay hanging out of her bottom. Could this be linked? Or has she just sat on it?

Oh... And her colour seems fine too. Ears nicely pink.

Probably bum gas is a lot better than stuck gas and bloat? My little boar farted on my hand yesterday and I was really excited because a little boy asked me a couple of weeks ago if piggies farted and I didnt know the answer... so yes they do fart but too much gas probably means too much green veg and a risk of bloat so cut down on the lettuce and definitely avoid cabbage and broccolli for a while!
