Gizmo has started coming upto the bars for food and a head stroke so thought we would try handling them as it's been a couple of weeks now since we got them. Gizzy is still very scared compared to his brother and won't accept food from us yet.

Aw how lovely they are starting to trust you, there’s always one a little bit shyer than the other, but given time and patience they will come round. new piggies often like a cuddle cup, blanket or to hide in while in your lap, it helps them feel secure 😊

My two older boys were like this. Dexter (the submissive of the two) was the first to take food from me and was coming to the bars when I approached. This was after around six weeks. Popcorn (obviously the dominant), was so scared. He would always be curious but would hold back. He took a lot of work, patience and coaxing but eventually we got there with him. I’ll never forget the day he took food from me for the first time - it took a year and a half of gentle work with him but we got there in the end. They are almost five years old now and while neither enjoy being handled, they are both very friendly and are always at the front together waiting for me.

Take it slow and steady and you will get there with both your boys!
