I'm taking DF to Blackpool to see his favourite comedian on Wednesday as his surprise Xmas present - the only thing I'm worried about are the guineas.

We live quite a bit away from our parents, and we don't really know the neighbours well enough to give them a key to our house.

We'll be gone from 9am Wednesday morning, and coming back around 12pm Thursday afternoon.

They usually get: A halfbowl of the pellets in the morning (8.30-9am) and are handfed a large chunk of carrot. When we get home at 5.30pm, they are handfed veggies (usually carrots and cucumber) throughout the night (around a large carrot between them), and they get a halfbowl of pellets in the evening whenever their first bowl runs out to last them overnight. I fill their hay rack usually every other day.

If I gave them a full bowl of the pellets Wednesday morning, and gave them an additional full bowl of veggies I'd prepared the night before, and filled their hayrack with as much hay as I can fit in there, do you think they'll be OK until Thursday lunchtime? Obviously I'd fill their water bottle right up too, but as it's a massive bottle and only 2 of them, I'm not worried about that as they'd never drink a whole one.

Sorry to be rambling, I'm just a bit worried about them.
(Also if their current diet is not the best, I'd love to hear tips on that too, although that might be for another thread - I've started giving them new veggies like peppers since reading the info on this forum)

Thanks!
Hayley

I am sure others will be along who can help you more, but imho they will be fine.

If anything I'd go slightly easy on the extra vege and just ensure there's masses of hay, because if they gorge themselves on the vege they may get upset tums.

If you were really worried you could get an automatic cat feeder for them and load with vege and extra pellets in the two compartments, but for just one night I doubt that's necessary.

Which comedian are you going to see? :)

Cheers
Alex

They will gorge themselves on veg and pellets on the first day, so make sure that you have loads of extra hay for the second. They will be fine for one day! Especially, as you will be back by lunchtime.

Have a lovely trip out!

Thanks :) That's the only thing I'm worried about! They're such greedy piggies they'll eat the pellets and the veg on the first day! I'll cram as much hay as I can into the feeder so they can have that on Thursday morning and I'll probably spoil them when we get back :))

Even though they get handfed veg, I do give them a big bowl of veg around once a week as a treat which keeps them happy for a couple of hours. I've just given them one now - pic attached (already feeling guilt about leaving them!) full of carrots, carrot batons, cucumber, green peppers, yellow peppers and a few sugarsnap peas (first time trying green peppers and peas and they seem a bit unsure!) so I'll probably give them something similar on Wednesday.

We're going to see Ricky Gervais :(|) I managed to get front row seats and DF has no idea :x

That salad looks good enough to eat!

Enjoy Ricky - front seats, hope you don't get picked on lol! I didn't know he was touring again, bet it will be good.

Cheers
Alex

It would be better, if you added a dish with hay - if you cram the hay too tightly, they won't be able to pull it out!

Thanks for the tip! They never use their corner loo despite my best efforts, so I might clean it out and put some extra hay in there for them :)

I you fill that corner with hay, they will be a) very happy (mine love a snooze in it) and b) won't go hungry!

Another good hay tip is hay cookies from PAH - expensive but mine like them and I use them occasionally for occasions such as this, as well as regular hay.

I never thought about that actually! If I'm able to nip to PAH before Wednesday, which I hopefully will do, I'll pick some up! Thanks!

Well we're back! Had a fab time and DF was so surprised!

I did miss my little pigs though - we came home with 2 new fleeces, the large woodlands playsticks (which they're in the run with now!), a big bag of the burgess pellets for them to try and some timothy hay :))

Spoilt Piggies!

Glad pigs are ok. But the burning question is, did you avoid getting picked on? ;-)
