Hi, I’ve been feeding my Guineas Pigs 1 tablespoon each of Harrington’s a day, for the last 8months. I’ve noticed they’re hardly touching them. They’re almost 1 year old. Should I change?

They’re otherwise very happy and healthy. Still eating hay and veggies in proportion. I can’t understand why they’re not eating as many pellets. Any advice please?

They do have a tendency to go off things. Mine ate Harrington’s for a while and when I’d just bought a huge 10kilo bag, they decided to stop eating it! Mine have science selective now and seem happy with it. They don’t always eat the same amount but I would, personally, offer them some to ensure they have their vit c intake, even though they have veg etc and I know they like their pellets too.

I switch back and forth between harringtons and science selective grain free.. mine get bored of one nuggets after so long, just make sure you dont switch 100% straight away, try mixing the new nugget in gradually. Although they will probably just eat the new one and leave the old anyway

Great advice, thank you! I was thinking they must be getting bored. I will do a 50/50mix of something new. Just wasn’t sure which new pellets to try! I’ll look out for science selective grain free. Thanks xx

How often would you say they like to switch or does it vary?

Mine get bored too, really enjoyed the last bag of Science Selective grain free so bought another one, nope Jessie pig doesn't like anymore! Rupert's tucking in while Jess tells me off at the side of the cage as not to her liking!
Looks like a Zooplus order soon to get her favourite JR Farm ones, we shall see if she approves! Fussy porky pig :)

Piggies are like toddlers ; no sooner do you think you've cracked what they like to eat, they change their minds and refuse to eat it. Another difficulty is when the producers change the recipe and your piggies turn their noses up. THey love to keep us slaves on our toes.

My Finn has been eating Oxbow pellets since he was a little baby and he continues to eat it. Both Lara and Finn get Oxbow pellet and has never refused to eat it. Mine are true piggies, lol.

If I changed from Harrington's I'd have a mutiny in my hands! Velvet loves them so much I'm sure she'd sell her soul for them! 5 unhappy piggies:yikes: doesn't even bear thinking about:yikes:

Mmine have got Harringtons after their great and small ones are done
