Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my precious girl Billie. She had to be PTS nearly exactely on the day that I first met her 6 years ago.

At that time I had been looking quite desperately for a young female to join my group. I had four piggies and everyone thought I was crazy for looking for a young girl so urgently.
When I first saw Billie's pigture, my heart melted and I couldn't wait for her to move in with us.
She was a chilled piggy from the start, always LOVED to eat and was my snuggle piggy.
About three weeks after Billie moved in, two of my older girls died just one week apart.

Wasn't she the cutest baby ever?
At first she lived with Muffin and Hailey.

She was Muffin's great love of his life though he was much older than her. And she loved him just as much.

The group was joined by Tessy about six months later. Billie and Tessy were best enemies at first but they became really close later on in life.
After Hailey passed away quite young, Billie became top sow. I wasn't sure that this position would suit her, but she grew into it and had a firm paw until the end.
Bonny and Vicky joined the group during the pandemic, Kylie in March 2023. Odi came to live with us after Muffin's death ... and Billie really hated him at first. It took a lot of persuasion on my part to get her to give him a chance. And no piggy but Billie would have done me this favour. She was the best piggy friend I ever had and I hope that she knew how honoured I was by her love and affection.

She was incredibly patient during her long battle against bumble foot. But she never lost her love of life and her appetite. Always ready for the next snack ... even during her last hours when she couldn't eat much anymore.

I just loved her sweet red face and her piggy lips.
Billie, you were a truely special piggy and you will be missed a lot. But I will always treasure my memories of you and your friendship, the way you seemed to understand every word. You often reminded me of a big red fluffy caterpillar when you were eating, happily munching. It wasn't for the faint hearted to come between you and your food.
You also had a powerful and loud wheek though you only wheeked when it was really necessary.

I could go on and on ... but I'll come to an end now.
Just like your life came to an end yesterday.
I'll always love you, my sweet red girl!
Bye bye and kisses from Mummy!
