Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. We have 7 guinea pigs, and recently lost Coco, a beautiful teddy piggy we first met on Christmas Day 2023 when we adopted her. Coco was an older girl, and was such beautiful company, although she was bossy with the other piggies! Our pigs usually live in a shed outdoors, but since about March they have been living in our house. My daughter noticed that Coco started to decline a few weeks earlier with sudden loose bowels, followed by tummy hair loss and bumblefoot. We took her to so many vet appointments, they did blood tests which did not detect anything. Coco was so frail at the time, we knew she would not cope with any kind of surgery. I spent time with Coco each day soaking her feet, and bandaging them. She was okay for a while, active and interacting with the other piggies. Coco suddenly stopped eating recently, and a few days later she had passed in my daughter’s arms.
We will miss Coco forever, she had big beautiful soulful eyes and always let us pet her and pick her up for cuddles. I had piggies as a child, but don’t remember their deaths being this traumatic. It’s just too sad, these beautiful little creatures. Rest in peace beautiful Coco, we hope to meet you again one day xoxo
