Goodbye Hugo 🤍

I’ve posted about him a few times here, but I’m so sad to say my precious Hugo passed today. He was 7, and I’m so glad he was able to live a long and happy life. He had bad arthritis that hindered his mobility completely, but he still enjoyed life by playing, eating, and all his spa days and nightly messages for his legs.
I can’t help but feel guilty over everything. I sensed yesterday that his time was coming, but I was completely exhausted and accidentally passed out on the floor next to his cage last night. He passed alone, and I’m so sorry I wasn’t holding him the whole time to give him the comfort he needed. I can’t bring myself to look at his cage without him in it.
I hope he knew how special he was, how much I loved him, and how much I’ll miss him. He was one of my first Guinea pigs and I hope now he’ll run happily with his brother and enjoy all the treats he wants.

Sleep peacefully Hugo. Everyone will miss you.

I am sorry for your loss. Hugo had the best life with you and would have known he was loved. Take comfort that he passed away at home with you near him and when your grief is less raw you will treasure the happy memories.
