Jane
Senior Guinea Pig
Pepper, one of my beautiful guinea pigs, died today 8...
June 2006? - 1st October 2008
I got him and Beauty on the 26th December 2006, after months of research we finally went ahead and got them from an advert in our local Free Ads. We were told they were six months old (then again, we were also told they were girls...) but they haven't grown since then, so really they could have been older, or the previous owners could have been right - I don't know.
Pepper was always the shyer one, but over the past year or so he has improved so much and became a lovely little piggy, especially when you had food of course!
On Monday night I noticed he didn't seem himself, he seemed a bit off colour but I thought maybe it was just something he'd eaten or he was just feeling tired etc. However, yesterday I knew he'd be leaving us soon
He wasn't moving much and didn't really do much but he didn't seem in pain and he seemed comfortable. He was warm, comfortable, food and water near him and a friend near by, so we left him for the night.
This morning he was still fighting but it was obvious he wouldn't last much longer. I gave him a little cuddle and he just seemed ready to give up.
When I got home from school he had passed away
I don't know what to think - if was kind of expected because he'd gone downhill yesterday, but before Monday he was a lively, happy guinea pig who was enjoying life and there seemed to be nothing wrong, I have no idea why this happened
It was like seeing an old guinea pig slipping away really.
Pepper, I love you so much and I'm sorry you had to go
I hope you enjoyed the few years we had together, I know I did. I'm sorry if this was something we did wrong, we tried our hardest for you.
Run free darling, I'm sure Beauty will miss you - he already looks confused. I hope you find some nice piggy friends at the bridge xx
We definitely had a good bond.. (picture was after a bath lol)
I'll miss you, we all will.
