I took Sweep back to the vets tonight because despite having his teeth done he still wasn't eating, he had lost lots of weight, his eyes were filling up with pus and despite drinking loads he was always thirsty.

After checking him over the vet decided that the kindest thing would be to put him sleep, I asked if she was absolutely certain and she said that she was, everything pointed to kidney disease and it really would be the kindest thing. I stayed him through to the end and he passed away very peacefully. Although I had him only three weeks I feel devastated :'( but i don't regret any of it, he was a wonderful piggy and I will miss him. The vet said to me that though he had only been with me three weeks they may well of been the happiest three weeks of his life because he was in a home were he was so loved and wanted and his every need was met.

Oh Wanda I'm so sorry! I've been rooting for little Sweep since you got him. You know you gave him three weeks of love and attention, you done all you could for him.

Awwww! Bless 0:) Lovely kind words from the Vet - seems like she understands (quite a rarity). R.I.P. Sweep 0:)

Be happy in the knowledge that there is no longer any pain or suffering 0:)
 
So sorry to hear about Sweep :'(, he was such a cute chap and I really hoped he was going to make it.

Your vet is right, that time with you may have been short but he will have gone to the Bridge with happy memories of being loved. Sleep well, little Sweep, we will all miss you :'( :smitten:
 
Oh no, poor Sweep and poor you. I am so very sorry to read this, he was the most adorable piggy. He had the most wonderful 3 weeks with you and you did everything you could :'(

Its great when you find a vet that really does have the animals best interests at heart
Its always hard when a pet dies however long you've had them-I had a piggy for just 2 days yet I still miss her (for any of you wondering she had a heart attack)
At least he had a great life with you 0:)

That song has reduced me to a gibbering wreck, never heard it before but seems so apt esp for our furr babies :smitten:
